When there is no power and no internet on site
Summer house, country home, building site, boat shed – places where you cannot run cable and there is no Wi-Fi. These cameras manage on their own: a battery powers them, a solar panel charges it, and a 4G SIM card sends the picture to your phone wherever there is mobile coverage.
Which one?
Summer house or country home – a battery camera with a solar panel. In summer the panel fills the battery in a day; in winter the battery lasts months on its own, because the camera only wakes on movement.
Building site or warehouse yard – a 4G camera that sees the whole site and alerts you on movement; for a large site a PTZ camera you can turn from your phone.
Coverage but no power – battery and 4G in one housing. If there is power but no internet, a normal camera and a 4G router will do.
A real-life example
A summer house by the forest, empty in winter: a battery camera with a solar panel on the porch post covers the door and the yard. When someone enters the yard you get the picture on your phone and can speak through the camera's speaker straight away. The SIM card is a normal data plan – pictures are only sent when something happens, so little data is used.
