A PoE splitter turns the PoE in the network cable into ordinary DC. Useful where PoE is already present at the camera but an extra device — a microphone or an illuminator, say — needs power and does not speak PoE itself. On this model PoE also passes through — the same cable can feed both a 12 V accessory and a PoE camera.
